  • SendOwl
    Required: Remote.

SendOwl (ecommerce software for selling digital products) is looking to take on a full time Rails developer to expand our development team. We're an established eight-year-old company with a loyal customer base and a passionate team.

    The pitch

This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to do what they love (Rails) without being distracted by commuting, long hours and office politics.

Being privately owned has kept us very efficient. We focus on a) providing a great product b) listening very closely to our customer needs and c) adding features where there's proven demand. Everything we do is tracked back to KPIs that matter to us and our customers.

For some people this is a really scary way to run a company as there's nowhere to hide. For us it's the only way to operate, but that's not to say we've not got it wrong in the past (adding features people don't need is one of several examples).

    A bit about you

We're looking to take on a developer so we can speed up the rate at which we move. Key skills for this role are:

    • Senior level Rails experience
    • jQuery, Sysadmin or UI/UX skills a bonus
    • Strong ownership skills. As a small team we don't have project managers. You're responsible for your tasks so you'll need to be good at taking ownership and reporting back to the team.
    • Flexibility and an open mind. Everyone in the company does customer support two days per month. You learn an incredible amount about our customers and our product doing this, which is why we insist on it. It doesn't matter if you've no experience doing customer support. We're happy to train you up and there'll be somebody with you when you're on duty.
    • An ability to renegotiate requirements. In Computer Science there's hard problems and hard problems that don't need solving. We are constantly asking ourselves if there's an easier way to do something for our customers. Knowing when a hard problem doesn't need solving and throwing the requirements back is essential for us.

A bit about what we can offer

    • Properly flexible working. We all work remote by default and meet up as required. As long as the work gets done and you overlap with your colleagues for part the day then we don't mind when you work.

    • A sensible work life balance. We work 7.5 hours a day. That gives you a chance to do what you love outside of work, which means you'll come back the next day refreshed and effective. We do occasionally get caught up in the excitement of a new feature launch and work more, but it is just that – occasional. A culture of long hours benefits nobody.

    • The odd owl-themed night out or away day

  • Calibrater Health
    Required: US only.

Calibrater Health is hiring a front-end software developer to help us build and maintain our web application. This is a full-time remote position with a company that values a good work / life balance and provides excellent opportunities for career growth.

Although it is a remote position we are only considering candidates who live in the US.

    About the Role

You will work as part of a small team to design, implement and ship real features that get used daily by our happy paying customers. While the majority of the work is new feature development, there are also a few legacy obligations. Some of the work will involve maintaining, upgrading or refactoring old parts of the system.

Our application is written in Python, Django and PostgreSQL - and the frontend is a combination of Django templates, Bootstrap and jQuery. We’re looking for someone who can take ownership of this and improve our front-end technologies and overall user experience.

    About You

We value diverse teams built from different backgrounds, experiences and identities. As a front-end developer you should have a good design aesthetic, a solid understanding of UI/UX principles and strong HTML, CSS and JavaScript skills.

Framework experience isn’t that important - in fact, we’d prefer it if you were comfortable writing modern ES6 without all the baggage a framework brings - our stack is intentionally small and lean so we can move quickly!

Most importantly, you will also need to be pragmatic - we consider delivering functional software to the customer the ultimate factor that measures progress.

    Benefits

    We offer:

    • the chance to be part of a high quality, close-knit team with a positive, supportive and flexible culture
    • competitive equity and salary compensation
    • medical, dental and vision benefits
    • quarterly team retreats to interesting locations around the US
    • although we’re remote, we’ll pay for a co-working space if you prefer that to working from home
    • all the peripherals, monitors, etc you need to be productive
  • HoloMeeting
    Required: Europe only.

We are looking for highly motivated and creative individuals to join us in our mission to transform how humans work and collaborate together.

In this role you will work with an international team of artists and Unity developers to port our UWP app to iOS.

You will develop new mobile features that contribute to the product roadmap, translate design and product documentation into technical specifications and subsequently develop them as new features. You will write efficient code, optimise the general performance of our software and help keep bugs at a minimum level.

Provide general project support by assisting the team with technical questions and creating authoring and/or debugging tools.

Responsibilities, including but not limited to:

    • Development of ultra-fast, highly scalable, holographic remote collaboration solution
    • Implementation of security "best practices” to keep user data secure
    • Coordinate and work with front-end and back-end developers, UX/UI designers, 3D artists, and the production teams to achieve goals

    Requirements:

    • 3+ years of Unity experience in a professional development team
    • 2+ years iOS (ideally Swift, Objective-C and ARKit)
    • BS in Computer Science
    • Knowledge of Unity team project best-practices (prefabs, asset naming, organized scene hierarchy)
    • Experience with git
    • Good communication skills (we are looking for someone who thrives on collaborating with a remotely located team)

    Preferred:

    • Agile
    • Photon Networking
    • Experience working with cloud-based systems and/or local servers including, but not limited to: web-based protocols, REST APIs, and sockets
    • C++ or other programming skills (e.g. Python)
    • Azure

    Work Environment

We are a startup and this job operates in a remote environment. Candidates should have flexible working hours to accommodate this role and the company growth. We do not intend to work longer than necessary, however, we are looking for people who get things done when necessary.

    About Us

At Close, we’re building the sales communication platform of the future. With our roots as the very first sales CRM to include built-in calling, we’re leading the industry toward eliminating manual processes and helping companies to close more deals (faster). Since our founding in 2013, we’ve grown to become a profitable, 100% globally distributed team of ~33 high-performing, happy people that are dedicated to building a product our customers love.

Our app’s frontend is a single-page JavaScript web app mostly written in React (originally built with Backbone.js). We bundle with Webpack and target only modern browsers. We test with Enzyme and Mocha run via Puppeteer. Our UI updates in near real-time and is written in LESS/CSS (with flexbox and grid layout) using BEM methodology and takes advantage of fun technologies like Websockets and WebRTC.

We care about performance (e.g. route-based code splitting), maintainability, and testability of our frontend code. We sweat the UI/UX details and work collaboratively with the Product team throughout the design process. This means diving into lo-fi Freehand wireframes, and communicating continuously when those ideas are brought to life using Sketch/Abstract and code.

Our frontend app is built on top of our REST API & GraphQL endpoints. Our backend tech stack consists of Python/Flask, MongoDB, Postgres, Elasticsearch, and Redis. We run our services in Docker on AWS.

We ❤ open source – using dozens of open source projects with contributions to many of them, and released some of our own like Microphone Recorder to Mp3, filevalidator.js, addresscompiler, backbone.mousetrap and more at https://github.com/closeio.

    About You

We’re looking for an experienced full-time Frontend Software Engineer to join our engineering team. Someone who has a solid understanding of web technologies and wants to help design, implement, and launch major user-facing features.

You should have senior level experience (~5 years) building modern frontend applications in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, with at least 3 years of that experience using a JS framework (React, Vue, Angular, Backbone etc).

You should have significant experience designing, debugging, and optimizing frontend applications to make them fast and reliable. You have significant experience with REST APIs and thoroughly understand HTTP requests. You have experience participating in code reviews and providing overall code quality suggestions to help maintain the structure and quality of the codebase.

You should have great product sense and be able to think through user experience issues before diving into the code, and you exhibit a love for great UI.

You’re comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with a small and talented team where you’re supported in your efforts to grow professionally. You are able to manage your time well, communicate effectively and collaborate in a fully distributed team.

You are located in an American or European time zone.

    Bonus points if you …

    • Experience implementing real-time (e.g. websockets, polling, etc.) web apps
    • Experience working with GraphQL endpoints
    • An eye for design and experience with Sketch, Abstract, Photoshop, or similar
    • Led small project teams building and launching features
    • Contributed open source code (core or plugins) for a popular frontend framework such as React, Vue, or Angular
    • Built B2B SaaS products
    • Experience with sales or sales tools

Come help us with projects like …

    • Conceiving, designing, building, and launching new user-facing features
    • Working with Twilio’s API, WebSockets, and WebRTC to improve our calling features
    • Building user-facing analytics features that provide actionable insights based on sales activity data
    • Improving real-time collaboration user experience
    • Expanding our frontend GraphQL usage
    • Extending our React component library

    Why work with us …

    About us

At Close, we’re building the sales communication platform of the future. With our roots as the very first sales CRM to include built-in calling, we’re leading the industry toward eliminating manual processes and helping companies to close more deals (faster). Since our founding in 2013, we’ve grown to become a fully profitable, 100% globally distributed team of 33 high-performing, happy people that are dedicated to building a product our customers love.

We are growing the Product team (of 3) to help define the features that will have the biggest impact for our customers and their sales teams.

    About you

You are a generalist with a wide set of design skills including user interface design, user experience design, an understanding of usability concerns, and the ability to write easily digestible copy. You enjoy the challenge of designing for sometimes deeply technical problems.

You have worked with, or helped create, design systems and understand version control for design files (we use Abstract).

You are comfortable working remotely as part of a small team, with a high level of autonomy. You have designed beautiful and elegant solutions for desktop SaaS products and are familiar with the space.

You understand technical constraints, their impact, and can adjust your design approach accordingly. You enjoy the problem solving aspects of design, and you’ve had experience working on complex web or desktop apps.

You have been wrong and can admit it. You can articulate why it happened and how you’ve learned from that experience. You’re not precious about your designs and can accept constructive feedback freely. Equally, you can argue effectively for your viewpoint when needed.

You are able to easily demonstrate your process for taking rough concepts and briefs from lo-fi sketches through to high fidelity mockups ready to be implemented. You’re confident in communicating the rationale of your decisions.

You are in a European or American timezone.

    About the role

You will be responsible for understanding and designing new features and improvements as part of a small feature team. You will ensure the solution satisfies the initial problem statement, is technically viable, and integrates well with existing design patterns (or adds new ones where necessary).

You’ll be working with Craig (best axe thrower in the company), Ben (not the best axe thrower in the company), and Anthony on a daily basis and often with the engineering team throughout the design process.

We use Freehand, Sketch, and Abstract as our design toolset and Slack, GitHub, and Asana extensively for communication within and between teams.

  • Close
Required: North America and Europe only.

    About Us

At Close, we're building the sales communication platform of the future. With our roots as the very first sales CRM to include built-in calling, we're leading the industry toward eliminating manual processes and helping companies to close more deals (faster). Since our founding in 2013, we've grown to become a profitable, 100% globally distributed team of ~33 high-performing, happy people that are dedicated to building a product our customers love.

We ❤ open source – using dozens of open source projects with contributions to many of them, and released some of our own like Microphone Recorder to Mp3filevalidator.jsaddresscompilerbackbone.mousetrapand more at https://github.com/closeio.

    About You

We're looking for an experienced full-time Frontend Software Engineer to join our engineering team.

You’re comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with a small and talented team where you're supported in your efforts to grow professionally. You are able to manage your time well, communicate effectively and collaborate in a fully distributed team.

You are located in an American or European time zone.

    Bonus points if you…

    • Experience implementing real-time (e.g. websockets, polling, etc.) web apps
    • Experience working with GraphQL endpoints
    • An eye for design and experience with Sketch, Abstract, Photoshop, or similar
    • Led small project teams building and launching features
    • Contributed open source code (core or plugins) for a popular frontend framework such as React, Vue, or Angular
    • Built B2B SaaS products
    • Experience with sales or sales tools

Come help us with projects like…

    • Conceiving, designing, building, and launching new user-facing features
    • Working with Twilio's API, WebSockets, and WebRTC to improve our calling features
    • Building user-facing analytics features that provide actionable insights based on sales activity data
    • Improving real-time collaboration user experience
    • Expanding our frontend GraphQL usage
