    Chief Product Officer

    Greetings from FineTune!!  We are an early-stage technology company innovating in the assessment and learning space.   Our platform features a workflow that enables the ability to assess qualitative (more complex) skills/competencies at scale, using human evaluators.  We are now working on integrating with various AI programs to pursue a hybrid (human + AI) approach to evaluation and feedback. Through our partnership with the College Board, we have customized our platform for Advanced Placement (AP) that has been validated at scale across the curriculum, in all 36 AP courses, with over 3 million users.  We are beginning to explore other use-cases in other verticals (higher ed and workforce) as well as other applications within the K-12 world.

    We are looking for a hands-on, execution-oriented Chief Product Officer to help the company continue to scale as we explore various opportunities to leverage our core value proposition.    We are looking for a CPO who:

    • Is responsible for instituting rigor around product/market fit, product definition, market sizing, customer development and pricing of our software as a service (SaaS) products.
    • Has the strength and experience in product marketing to define top priority features for MVP to go to market with as well as rationale for those features.
    • Is responsible for keeping consistent messaging and latest product communication with end users and potential customers to solve pains and needs that lead to greater revenue.
    • Defines and measures product success metrics around product features, user engagement, customer acquisition costs, retention costs and user growth/churn.
    • Analyzes better ways to increase acquisition, retention and monetization. Incorporating those features into the product in collaboration with dev team.
    • Organizes and prioritizes product user stories that aligns with business value.
    • Reports directly to the CEO.


    • A pioneering, market savvy manager who has marketed, iterated, launched and grown products from concept to scale while being able to show quarterly progress on product goals.
    • Have been part of a team where a product has scaled generating considerable recurring revenue and you were part of tracking metrics through the growth.
    • Education, Publishing, Workforce Training, Higher Ed or EdTech experience helpful but not a must.
    • Experience in managing marketing or sales funnels for B2B software products or B2C consumer products to inform best customers to target for different product release phases.
    • Experience in sketching UX for MVP’s to communicate with designer or design team for effective decision making and execution
    • Experience with agile development process.
    • Early stage company experience a plus.

    Thycotic is looking for a Software Release Project Manager to manage the tasks, deadlines, and teams that contribute to the readiness of going live with a software product. Customers deploy our solutions both on premise and in Thycotic’s managed cloud. Thycotic’s release management practice entails monitoring and managing releases from the earliest development phase all the way through the public launch of the product. The release plan covers Interim phases of quality assurance, documentation, marketing messaging and materials, internal training for support and sales teams, and deployment.  The Software Release Project Manager creates the release project plan for these activities, organizes release teams that span cross functional areas of development, marketing, product management, support, and sales, monitors progress, and communicates status.  The Software Release Project Manager is an accomplished project manager with solid judgement for motivating disparate teams and making progress.  Sound communication skills both up and down the chain are very important in this position. A passion for meeting deadlines is required.

    This position reports to the VP, Software Operations and is based in the Washington, DC headquarters; however, a remote candidate may be considered.


    • Ability to create and maintain a project plan, break it down into phases and steps, assign owners
    • Ability to acquire knowledge of software products and software team velocity to determine and judge accurate due dates
    • Ability to derive release progress and then translate it into accurate and meaningful status reports that clearly indicate risks with remediation plans for upper management
    • Ability to interpret changing requirements and resourcing, then adjust and revise plans and deliverables as circumstances require
    • Proactive ability to clearly communicate release plan changes across multiple organization levels such as within release teams, to upper management, and to downstream operations
    • Ability to schedule, lead, and document release team meetings
    • Driven to learn software products in order to understand how new features or products affect cross functional team resources and plans
    • Deep commitment to on-time delivery; prompt by nature
    • Knowledge, affinity, and appreciation of software technology; past experience mastering software as an administrator or expert user
    • Knowledge and experience of the software delivery process


    • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical or management field or equivalent experience
    • 2+ years of full-time project management experience
    • PMP certification a plus
    • Preference by personality to handle multiple tasks and competing priorities
    • Proven ability to manage multiple projects in various stages and sizes
    • Experience working with commercial software in a capacity that familiarized you with software phases, updates and rollouts
    • Ability to rapidly get up to speed on software technology
    • Proven ability to effectively engage and work with sales, technical support, engineering, testers, marketing, IT operations, and other teams
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills across multiple layers within an organization

    FineTune is seeking a Tech Project Manager who has launched multiple b2b or b2c software products and is comfortable being a scrum master for 30+ engineers divided into 4 squads.  The candidate should also have significant agile software development experience in customer facing roles and been a software engineer for at least 5 years delivering multiple production quality software and who has also worked with software teams to remove inefficiencies, confusion and implemented efficient agile processes. The candidate should be very comfortable creating project plans, estimating delivery plans, uncovering uncertainties, dissecting future epics to stories and to working with product owners to continuously groom and refine the stories while working with developers to break them down into sub tasks.

    We would prefer someone who has deployed applications to AWS (or any public cloud) with experience in infrastructure scaling, monitoring, python, sql optimization, docker, database performance, operations and microservices. S/he must have experience working with at least 3 production released software projects/products. S/he would be helping our product owner write stories that are geared technically friendly to developers, communicate requirements to all devs, make sure acceptance criteria are met before staging for acceptance review and also be able to break down complex stories into smaller technical sub tasks, comfortable identifying data inconsistencies while being able to run existing automated tests or do manual QA to make sure software team builds new and existing services according to customer expectations.

    S/he should also be comfortable interacting with customer, managing releases, labels, workflows in JIRA, pulling reports and analytics from JIRA to and provide guidance on team performance and velocity.  S/he should also be comfortable assessing technical feasibility and scope of engineering/rearchitecting needed to solve problems and deliver features.

    Tech Project Manager will work with 30+ people engineering and QA team to find best ways to increase to enhance software quality and development speed.  S/he will need to quickly get a sense for each developer's capabilities and expertise and be able to help allocate stories/tasks while facilitating knowledge sharing so that people are all on the same page in architecture, feature priorities, dependencies and integration plans.

    S/he will interface with VP of Engineering to continuously drive team performance, maintaining updated requirements, high quality JIRA stories, while also helping with architecture, scalability, automation, innovation and new product development while promoting and advancing modularization of current platform we are working on with Collegeboard.
